Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Dr. Rakesh Minhas, today chaired a review meeting in the DC Office Complex, assessing the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) initiatives in the district.
At the outset, XEN PHE Kathua presented updates on both financial and physical progress achieved under the Mission. It was informed that 88 JJM projects have been completed in the district. The meeting was further informed that all 162 OHT projects have been assigned, of which 109 are complete.
Detailed discussions were held on ongoing water supply schemes, including a detailed sub-division and scheme-wise analysis. The DC directed executing agencies and contractors to accelerate pace to achieve project timelines.
The DC emphasized the role of recently appointed Junior Engineers (JEs), instructing them to conduct on-site inspections of water supply schemes, assess work quality, and identify any barriers affecting progress.
Addressing challenges impeding progress, particularly in areas where contractors face obstacles with pipeline installations, Dr. Minhas called on the Revenue authorities to act swiftly, ensuring timely completion of water supply schemes. He stressed the importance of cooperation among the Jal Shakti Department, contractors, and other stakeholders to overcome any bottlenecks.
The DC highlighted the importance of a focused, target-driven approach to complete projects within set timelines, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to the Jal Jeevan Mission’s objectives.
