Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rakesh Minhas today chaired a grievances redress camp at Barmota as part of the weekly Block Diwas meeting.
BDC Chairperson Bani, DDC Bani, ADC Kathua Ranjit Singh, SDM Bani Satish Sharma, District Officers and a large number of people were also present.
During the program several deputations met with the DC Kathua, including Sarpanches of different Panchayats and a large number of locals. They highlighted various issues of public importance and sought immediate redress of the same. They demanded SRTC bus service from Bani to Pathankot via Kathua, early completion of PMGSY roads, shortage of school and Health staff, availability of Fire Tender Vehicle at Bani, availability of ultrasonography in CHC Bani, extension of mobile services in uncovered areas etc.
The DC assured that all the genuine grievances of the public will be redressed on priority basis.
The DC further said that all the grievances in his competence shall be taken into account on priority, and those requiring intervention and higher level will be forwarded to the concerned authorities for appropriate and timely response.
Referring to the slow pace of PMGSY road work, the DC directed XEN PMGSY to mobilize men and machinery for achieving completion timelines of all undertaken works in remote sub divisions of Bani. He said any undue delay and bottlenecks on part of contractors will be dealt with strictly. He further called PRIs to anticipate in keeping a check on the quality of the assets coming up under PMGSY and JJM schemes under their jurisdiction.
On the issue of Fire tender facility in Bani sub division, the DC assured that availability of fire services will be provided at the earliest.
Responding to the complaints of exorbitant electricity bills, the DC called upon the locals to go for electricity meters to rule out the scope of unjustified bills.
On the issue of mobile connectivity in uncovered areas of sub division Bani, the DC informed that all requests for providing land to BSNL authorities for installation of towers has already been approved by the district administration.
The DC assured that the matter of starting SRTC bus service will be taken up with concerned authorities on priority.
Regarding tapping the tourism potential of the picturesque area of Bani, the DC disclosed that all efforts shall be made to bring Bani on the tourism map of the Jammu and Kashmir by putting in collective efforts of all stakeholders to make it an attractive tourist destination.
Stalls of different departments were also installed for public convenience wherein field functionaries distributed leaflets besides briefing the locals about schemes and other initiatives offered by the government.
Later, the DC also held a detailed review of the functioning of the Revenue department in Bani Sub division where he passed directions to the Revenue staff to meet all timelines in registering entries in the revenue records.
