Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rahul Pandey today chaired a meeting of Regional Transport Authority and the line departments.
RTO Kathua, Executive Engineer PWD (R&B), Executive Engineer, PMGSY, representative of the BRO members attended the meeting.
At the outset, the Regional Transport Officer informed the meeting regarding the permits issued for different routes in the district.
It was pointed out in the meeting that there are many routes in the district for which route permits have been issued but no vehicle ply on those roads. Also it has been observed that the purpose for which route permits are issued was not met.
The Deputy Commissioner directed RTO to ensure that vehicles shall ply strictly on routes for which permits are allotted and impose penalty on the defaulters.
Reviewing the traffic worthiness of the roads, the DC directed executing agencies to strictly follow the norms and conduct on spot inspection to certify the traffic worthiness before issuance of permit.
Referring to some complaints of charging full fare from students, the Deputy Commissioner directed RTO to ensure concessions to all eligible under the rules.
