Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Santosh Sukhadeve today chaired a meeting regarding the infant mortality rate and the maternal deaths in Kargil.
The meeting was attended by CMO Kargil, Dr Munawar Hussain Wazir, Deputy CMO Kargil, Dr Abbas, MS District Hospital Kargil, Dr Liyaqat Ali, BMOs of different blocks, gynaecologists, paediatricians and doctors.
At the outset, the meeting was briefed about the status of infant mortality rate and maternal deaths in the district.
During the meeting, a threadbare discussion was held on the causes and preventive measures for the zero mortality in the district.
DC Kargil instructed the officers to keep eye on the progress on the decline rate of the mortality.
During the meeting gynaecologists and paediatricians put forth their views and suggestions to decline the infant mortality rate.
During the meeting, malnutrition in infants and how to counter it was also discussed. The DC directed the officers to focus on malnutrition.
During the meeting, it was suggested to aware women about breastfeeding, one of the most effective ways to ensure child health and survival.
The causes and the prevention measures for the premature deaths were also discussed in detail.
During the meeting programs like Village Health Nutrition Day (VHND) like events and programs were declared as the best ways to aware and to control the rural mortality rate in rural areas. It was decided to intensify such programs and IEC activities in rural areas.
Shortage of gynaecologists was also discussed in the meeting and DC assured for its redressal.
The meeting also discussed 4/4 vehicles during winter for the pregnant women. DC Kargil assured the redressal of the issue.
DC directed the department to target for the zero mortality and maternity rate in the district.
