The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar today inaugurated the ‘Himalayan Knowledge Hub,’ a library cum Reading Room at Bongam, here.
This initiative aims to provide a dedicated space for students, researchers and the local community to access educational resources and engage in knowledge-building activities.
This facility has capacity for 130 students.
Addressing the students, the DC said that the new facility is expected to support academic and cultural development in the region, offering a range of books, study materials, and a conducive environment for learning.
He added that the Himalyan Knowledge Hub aims at enhancing student’s preparation for competitive examinations. He said that it will provide a range of resources, including study materials, reference books and guide specific to competitive examinations like UPSC, JKPSC, NEET, JEE, SSC and other examinations.
While interacting with the students, DC emphasized the students to work hard, pursuing knowledge and building confidence to excel in their pursuits. He said that the initiative is expected to bridge educational gaps, foster academic excellence and contribute to the community’s overall intellectual growth.
Similar facility will come up in Boys HSS Shopian and HSS Zainapora, intimated DC to students.
Besides, Arrangements of having career counseling sessions and coaching for civil services is also being initiated for aspiring students by the district administration.
