The digital week celebration commenced today at Kulgam with the inauguration of Digi Mela by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat at the mini-secretariat here.
PRI members, students and locals participated in the programme and got acquainted with various online services available.
During the mela, different departments had set up stalls to generate awareness regarding online services offered by them to the public and facilitate spot delivery of such services.
The first day of the mela witnessed overwhelming response and officers, experts and resource persons were seen imparting awareness among people about the available online services at their respective stalls.
Moreover, departments had prepared hoardings/banners showcasing the online services pertaining to their departments.
The DC also inspected these stalls installed by various departments within the premises of the mini-secretariat.
Addressing the gathering, the DC said that the aim of the Digital Week celebration is to bring transparency, promote digital literacy and empower the people of the district with online services in public service deliverance
He said more than 450 services are available online and online services have greatly benefited the public, adding that programmes will also be carried out in Panchayats and blocks in the last four days of digital week.
Meanwhile, theme based cultural programmes were presented by students from schools and local artists during the digi mela function.
On the occasion, ADDC Showkat Ahmad Rather also enumerated in detail the benefits of online services and asked for maximising the usage of the digital services.
Earlier, the DC also flagged-off CSC Digi van and bike rally from mini-secretariat to generate awareness about online services.
