Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma on Wednesday flagged off a group of 32 Haj pilgrims from Samba District at the Conference Hall of the DC office. The group, equally comprised of 16 males and 16 females, will embark on their pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
Among the pilgrims, 28 will report to the Delhi State Haj Committee at Haj Manzil, Turkman Gate, New Delhi, while the remaining four will report at Srinagar. To ensure the smooth travel of the pilgrims, the District Administration Samba has designated a Nodal Officer and a Liaison Officer. These officers will oversee the necessary arrangements, facilitating the pilgrims’ safe and comfortable journey to Haj Manzil in Delhi and Haj House in Srinagar, from where they will depart for Saudi Arabia via international flights.
During his interaction with the pilgrims, DC Sharma congratulated them on their opportunity to perform the holy Hajj, extending his wishes for their safe pilgrimage. He urged them to pray for the peace and prosperity of the country and their fellow citizens from Samba. Emphasizing the significance of the Haj pilgrimage, Sharma highlighted the importance of upholding values of peace, unity, and brotherhood.
Additionally, the DC advised the pilgrims to utilize the Haj Suvidha App, launched by Union Minority Affairs Minister Smriti Zubin Irani on March 3. The app offers essential information and direct access to services such as training modules, flight schedules, and accommodation details, aiming to enhance the pilgrims’ experience during the annual pilgrimage.
The flag-off event was attended by several notable figures, including SSP Samba Vinay Kumar, ADC Suresh Chander, DIO Ashiq Rafiq Malik, Liaison Officer Yaqoob Khan, alongside officials from the District Administration and Police. Representatives from the religious community and well-wishers also gathered to bid farewell and pray for the well-being of the pilgrims on their sacred journey.
