DC Doda reviews implementation of Social Welfare schemes

District Development Commissioner Doda, Vishesh Paul Mahajan asked the Social Welfare department to speed up the ADHAAR seeding of beneficiaries for effective implementation of social security schemes including disbursement of benefits through DBT mode.
Chairing a meeting to review the implementation of different schemes, the DC asked the District Social Welfare Officer to complete all the approved works under PMAGY & SCA to SCSP by the end of the current month.
Reviewing the implementation of different schemes, the chair was apprised that under National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) 9192 beneficiaries (old age, widows and Disabled persons) are getting monthly pension @ Rs 1000 each, while 32918 beneficiaries (old age, widows and physically challenged persons) are getting monthly pension of Rs 1000 under Integrated Social Security scheme (ISSS).
It is pertinent to mention here that both NSAP and ISSS are DBT based and 70.81 beneficiary accounts have been ADHAAR Seeded.
Further, it was informed that 15922 cases under NSAP and ISSS for updation and online registration have been received on the designated portal ‘Jan Sugam’, out of which 1429 have been verified and forwarded to the Directorate of Social Welfare department for release of pension in their favour.
ICDS and Social Welfare officials were asked to hold ADHAAR updating camps at Tehsil Social Welfare Offices, at Anganwadi Centres and at village level for the convenience of the general public.
The meeting decided that BASERA, an abandoned orphanage at Akram Abad Doda would be used as a Hostel for Poor Boys and Old Age Home by the Social Welfare department. It further decided to establish District Disability Rehabilitation Centre at an appropriate location in consultation with GMC Doda Authorities.
The meeting was attended by ADDC Doda Pran Singh, CPO Doda Suresh Kumar, DSWO Doda Tariq Qazi, DIO Doda Mohd Ashraf Wani and LDM Doda Parveen Kumar.
The DC set February 28, 2023 as the timeline for verification of all the cases submitted by the beneficiaries in the Jan Sugam portal.
Besides, other Social Welfare schemes like State Marriage Assistance Scheme (SMAS), NFBS, Scholarship schemes, Developmental Deliverables and National foundation for communal harmony schemes (NFFCH) were also reviewed and the officials were impressed upon to saturate the same.
