Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Kumar Shavan today, announced district administration Kishtwar’s plans to host a “Mega Tribal Fest” on November 15, 2024, here on the historic Chowgan Ground.
Addressing a press Conference, he said that the festival marks the observance of Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas, commemorating the anniversary of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda.
“The event is a part of the “Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan” (DAJGUA), a nationwide Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign being held from November 15- to Nov 26, 2024, aimed at empowering tribal communities by making them aware about social, political, economic and legal Rights.
Addressing the media, the emphasized the cultural and economic significance of this celebration, highlighting that the various cultural activities and events under the fest will serve as a platform to showcase the rich heritage and livelihood of tribal communities in the District.
“The event aligns with the Hon’ble PM’s vision of the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan to aware, uplift and improve the socio-economic conditions of tribal populations,” DC Kishtwar stated.
The Mega Tribal Fest will feature various stalls displaying locally produced tribal artifacts, handicrafts, and agricultural products, providing a unique glimpse into the traditional skills and cultural diversity of the region’s tribal communities.
The DC confirmed that all necessary logistical arrangements have been completed, ensuring a seamless experience for attendees.
He extended an open invitation to the general people of Kishtwar and surrounding regions, encouraging them to participate in large numbers to celebrate and honor the distinctive culture and contributions of tribal communities.
The Mega Tribal Fest promises to be an enriching event that not only celebrates tribal heritage but also supports the development and recognition of tribal communities in alignment with the ideals of Dharti Aaba Birsa Munda.
