The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, S F Hamid today held a Nagar Diwas at Town Hall Magam as part of Public Outreach programme.
The Nagar Diwas witnessed large public participation from different areas of the sub-division.
Among others, the Public Grievance Redressal Camp was attended by DDC member Rathsun Reyaz Ahmad, President Municipal Committee Magam Ghulam Mustafa, Sub Divisional Magistrate Beerwah Toufeeq Gazi; Tehsildars of Beerwah and Magam, Executive Officers of MC Magam and MC Beerwah besides other Zonal and Sectoral Officers of the district.
During the Grievance Redressal Camp, representatives from trade unions put their demands with the DC which include Street lighting, construction of public convenience at bus adda etc.
Further, other Public delegations and individuals projected various developmental issues before the DC including augmentation of drainage and sewerage network in the area, repairs of lanes and drains, widening and macadamization of roads, construction of bund at Nallah ferozpora, repair of Magam bridge, regular cleanliness on roads and drains and other issues.
After giving patient hearing to the grievances and demands of the public, the DC sought on the spot response from the concerned Officers present during the Grievance Redressal Camp. He assured the people of the area that all genuine demands and issues projected by them will be looked into on priority for their speedy redressal. He also gave on the spot directions to the concerned officers for time bound redressal of the public issues.
Addressing the gathering, the DC said the District Administration has initiated this process of holding camps at doorsteps for the convenience of the general public. These interactions make administration more close to the public, he added.
Earlier, the DC stressed on the use of online services. He said today information regarding all works, schemes is available just at one click of anyone’s mobile phone or laptop. He instructed concerned departments to aware public regarding all online services of the district.
He requested youth to involve themselves more in sports activities and say no to every kind of drug which kills them.
He directed the concerned department for registration of unemployed youth of the area.
Later, the DC inspected the market of Magam town wherein market checking was conducted with regard to rate list, hoarding and availability of essential goods amid ensuing celebrations of Shab-i-Meraj and Maha Shivratri.
He also visited Receiving Station S.K Pora to assess the situation of availability of electricity in the area.
DC Budgam further reviewed the progress of work on PHC Mazhama, and directed the concerned agencies to complete the remaining work within a fixed timeline.
