Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rahul Pandey today presided over a one day training programme organised to acquaint the functionaries of District Kathua & Samba about Registration of Births & Deaths on Civil Registration System (CRS) Portal here at Conference hall of DC office.
The training was organized by District Registrar/Additional District Registrar of Births & Deaths Kathua & Samba, in collaboration with District Administration Kathua, Directorate of Economics & Statistics, J&K and Directorate of Census Operations, J&K.
The training programme was attended by Chief Medical Officers Kathua/Samba, District Statistics & Evaluation Officers Kathua/Samba, Medical Superintendents DH Kathua/Samba, BMOs, BDOs, CEOs/EOs of District Kathua & Samba and other concerned officers.
At the outset of the training programme, the Deputy Commissioner Kathua highlighted the importance of the CRS portal and role and responsibilities of newly notified registrars. He further impressed upon the registrar to create mass awareness among the general public about the new online system of registration of births & deaths. He also called upon trainees to learn all the nitty-gritty of the new registration system and quell their doubts, if any.
During the training programme, resource persons from Census Department, Manmeet Singh Loomba, Assistant Director Census Operations, Himanshu Koul SIG-II gave a detailed powerpoint presentation on Civil Registration System (CRS). They briefed the participants about the duties and responsibilities of functionaries involved in the Civil Registration System with special focus on the role of local Registrars for the issuance of Birth & Death certificates in the areas falling within their jurisdictions. They urged the Registrars (BDOs & EOs) to put in dedicated efforts for the implementation of the Civil Registration System through an online designated portal in letter & spirit in their respective areas.
Pertinently under Jammu and Kashmir Registration of Births & Deaths Rules, 2022, Block Development Officers have been designated as Registrars for Births & deaths in rural areas.
