Students of GNM, Faculty of Nursing, Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh visited Kusht Ashram, Khanna. In this visit, the Students distributed various food items as well as gave donation of Rs. 5000 to Kusht Ashram Members.
Prof. Lovesampuranjot Kaur, Officiating Principal, Faculty of Nursing said that the visit was planned and executed under the able guidance and support of Dr. Zora Singh, Hon’ble Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University and Dr. Sandeep Singh, President, DBU.
Ms. Kaur shared the information that Kusht Seva Ashram (KUKA) is inhabited by a small community of people affected by leprosy. She also said that Kusht Sewa Ashram is where Sri Aghoreshwar started the social work of association in 1961. Sri Aghoreshwar’s aim is to give shelter to the sufferers and to provide them a safe environment for growth and development. Kusht Sewa Ashram means Ashram for the service of leapers.
Dr. Zora Singh congratulated the students for such a thoughtful visit and encouraged them to keep doing their bit for the welfare of others.
Dr. Sandeep Singh also expressed his good wishes to the coordinators Ms. Honey Hasteer (Nursing Tutor) and Ms, Karanvir Kaur (Nursing Tutor) and organisers of the visit and the students who thought of such a humanitarian cause. He added that as the privileged section of the society, it is our duty to give back to the needy and the sufferers so as to make it a better world.
