DBU organized Progressive Farmers Meet: Sanjha Anubhav Sanjha Vikas – 2023
Agrim Club of faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences in association with IEDC/IIC under the aegis of IQAC, Desh Bhagat University organised Progressive Farmers Meet: Sanjha Anubhav Sanjha Vikas – 2023 in Mahapragya Seminar hall .
The event began with garlanding of S. Lal Singh ji followed by floral welcome, lamp lighting and DBU Anthem. Dr. H.K Sidhu, Dean Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences formally welcomed Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University as special guest, Dr Sukhpal Singh, Chairman, Punjab farmers and Farm Commission, SAS Nagar as chief guest, Dr Gurbachan Singh, Former Chairman ASRB, Agri Commissioner, Govt of India, Director CSSRI Karnal, ADG ICAR and founder President ISSAQ, guest of honour and all the dignitaries, farmers present on the occasion.
Dr. Sidhu said that Agriculture has made significant development in the last couple of years and the said event was an initiative by the department where eminent personalities who have excelled in the field of Agriculture and farmers who are the backbone of Agriculture will be seen on a common platform.
Dr. Zora Singh, Honourable Chancellor highly appreciated the efforts of Faculty of Agriculture, Desh Bhagat University for serving as a middle man between eminent personalities and Framers.
Dr. Sukhpal Singh shared the information about various reforms in Agriculture; he also explained simple ways that need to be opted to make farming successful.
Dr Gurbachan Singh addressed the audience. He explained in very simple terms the problems of Agriculture and the remedial ways. Dr. Singh also said that cluster villages need to be done for every issue like crop diversification, stubble burning etc. He also guided how farmers can save water. Resource person Dr. Ramrattan Singh, Fishery Officer from Nabha also informed about the various procedures of fish farming.
Dr Jaswinder Singh, Agriculture officer, Fathehgarh Sahib was also present on the occasion, he gave a brief view of growth in fatehgarh Sahib villages. Then there was an interactive session with progressive farmers of the area. More than 50 farmers shared their farmer expertise; they were also honoured by the university. The event further progressed with folk dance. At the end of the event Dr Arashdeep Singh, Dean Student Welfare presented the vote of thanks.
