Desh Bhagat Radio 107.8 fm (Aapki Aawaaz ) celebrated the 98th birth anniversary of the legendary Bollywood playback singer and musician Mohd. Rafi at the studio. The distinguished guests for the occasion were Mr. Vimal Trikha, Founder Member of Bollywood Felicitation Cell Chandigarh, Sh. Brijesh Ahuja, renowned music composer & actor, and Sh. Ram Anand, passionate singer and retired textile engineer. Sh Ravi K. Tripathhi, an Indian playback singer, composer and music director lived this celebration via instagram live. They shared valuable and interesting information about Mohd. Rafi. They said that Mohd. Rafi was a versatile singer. During his 40-year career, he sang over 26,000 songs in Hindi and many other languages. He sang for many contemporary composers like Naushad and other composers like S.D Burman, O.P Nayyar, Shankar-Jaikishan and Roshan.
Rafi’s voice had a phenomenal range. He sang everything from classical songs to ghazals, light romantic songs to patriotic songs. Rafi was awarded Padam Shri in 1965, one of the Indian government’s highest civilian honours. RJ Sangmitra, Station Head of DB Radio, 107.8 FM, also paid tribute to the music maestro. Many Mohammad Rafi songs were also performed. RJ Sangmitra said that Mohd. Rafi’s singing is evergreen.
