At least 12 persons are injured in a road mishap in Darhal area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Monday.
According to the sources, the accident took place when a tempo bearing registration number ‘JK117228’ met with a mishap in Chowkain Darhal area in which at least ,12 persons have suffered injuries.
The wounded persons persons were identified as Nayak ullah Malik R/ 0. Chowkain, Rahim Ahmed R/ 0 chowkain, Wahied Ahmed R/ 0 chowkain , Billo. Akhter R/0. Sarotha chowkain, Maram Nasha D/0 Abdul Rashid R/ 0 chowkain, Raiz ullah s/0 Naseeb ullah Malik R/ chowkain darhal, Parveen. Kosser D/0 khalil. Ahmed R/0. Chowkain, Manaz. Fatma D/0. Mohd Imtiyaz, Mumtaz Kosser w/0 Sageer Ahmed, Iram Kosser w/0 Mohd Rashid R/ 0. Chowkain, Nazia Akhter. W/0 Imtiyaz Ahmed and Shahieen Akhter w/0. Shahnaz Ahmed .
All the accident victims were taken to SDH Darhal for treatment.
The police has registered a case at Darhal police station in Rajouri.

On 15 November 2023, 39 people died and 17 more were injured when the driver of a passenger bus lost control and the vehicle plunged into a 300–400 ft (91–122 m) deep gorge in the hilly area of Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir.
The bus, which had registration number JK02CN-6555, was carrying 54 passengers, a driver and a conductor, when it plunged from the Batote-Kishtwar national highway near Trungal-Assar and fell 300–400 feet (91–122 metres) down a gorge. The bus landed on a disused road, 2.5 miles (4 km) from Rajgarh. The bus was over its 38 passenger capacity, which may have contributed to the driver being unable to negotiate the tight turn
As per a report, J&K ranked second across India in the tally of 10,000 vehicle accidents in this period with an average of 900 deaths a year. A total of 4,165 accidents were reported up to August last year. Tragically, 580 individuals (till the end of this year, the number is expected to cross 1,000) lost their lives, and 5,565 others sustained injuries in these incidents. The fatality rate is higher than Delhi, Maharashtra.
