In a significant move to address the rising concerns related to public safety and overall security scenario, a high level crime and operational review meeting was held today at DPO Handwara. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Kashmir Range Shri. Maqsood-ul-Zaman-IPS, in which all the senior officers including GOs & SHOs participated. The meeting aimed at reviewing the disposal of crime related matters, challenges faced by the enforcement agencies and formulating strategic plans to enhance operational efficiency and public safety.
A detailed analysis of recent crime data was presented by SSP PD Handwara, highlighting the disposal of the cases under various crime categories. Special focus was given to the cases registered under UAPA /NDPS Acts. The meeting also reviewed operational preparedness including creation of skilled resource personnel, coordination issues, use of technology in detecting ANEs, capacity building, enhanced patrols, surprised Nakas and creation of specialized task force to weed out anti-national elements. A greater emphasis was placed on community engagement and partnership with all stake holders to hit the Narco networks backed by terrorism with iron hammer. In his closing remarks, Deputy Inspector

Maqsood-ul-Zaman-IPS, advised all the officers of the district to remain fully committed for ensuring safety and security of the people by implementing a multi-faceted approach to combat crime and terrorism. The meeting concluded with an agreement to hold regular reviews and updates on the implementation of discussed strategies.
Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Kashmir Range Shri. Maqsood-ul-Zaman-IPS also paid visit to the home of Martyr ASI Showkat Ahmad of Lachampora Handwara. DIG NKR expressed deep appreciation for the sacrifice laid by the officer in the interest of nation and directed all the officers of the Police Handwara to provide every sort of assistance and relief to the family members.
