Srinagar, March 14, (Gulistan News TV): The Special Mobile Magistrate (Railway Magistrate, Kashmir) has issued pre-cognizance notices to the organizers of a fashion show held in Gulmarg, following a complaint by Aadil Nazir Khan, a resident of Tangmarg. Represented by Advocate Naveed Bukhtiyar, the complainant alleged that the show displayed obscene content, hurt religious sentiments during the holy month of Ramadan and involved public consumption of alcohol.

The complaint cites violations under Sections 296 and 299 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, as well as Section 50-A of the Jammu and Kashmir Excise Act, 1958. The complainant claimed to have discovered the alleged actions through a social media post on March 9, 2025.

The court, presided over by Judicial Magistrate Faizan-i-Nazar, stated in its order that the accused, including the Directors of Shivan & Narresh and the Editor-in-Chief of ELLE India, must be notified to appear for a hearing before cognizance of the case is considered. The accused have been asked to respond by April 8, 2025. Failure to appear may result in the court proceeding in their absence.

Notably, the fashion brand responsible for the March 7, 2025, fashion show in Gulmarg issued a public apology on March 10, following widespread backlash. Several videos of the event were subsequently removed from social media platforms. The incident sparked strong criticism from political parties and religious organizations in Kashmir, who condemned the timing and content of the show, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
