District Audit Office Cooperative Department, Leh organised a one-day workshop -cum-training in ‘Cooperative accountancy and audit’ today for secretaries and accountants of various Cooperative Societies of Leh district in the premises of Cooperative Complex, Leh.
A detailed lecture on various topics on accountancy and auditing was delivered by Senior Auditor, Abdul Rashid, Auditor, Rigzin Angchok, and Auditor,Ali Asgar. Also, a special guest lecture was delivered by Abdul Qadir, EX DAO, as a resource person.
The speakers stressed upon the society office bearers to maintain the day-to-day records of the various transactions made by the society properly so that all the activities, transactions, and auditing of all societies could be made smoothly and timely as auditing and transparency in accounts are key to a successful Cooperative Society.
Deputy Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Leh, Dr Mohd Abass threw light on the importance and role of various types of Cooperative Societies in economic development and creating livelihood opportunities for the farmers dealing with primary agri-horticultural and livestock farming in Leh District.
He also briefed about services provided by various Consumer Cooperative Societies like Bami Duniya Cooperative Society, block-level consumer cooperative societies, and village-level cooperative societies in providing consumer items at reasonable rates and special offers during festive seasons.
Earlier, District Audit Officer, Leh, Sonam Rinchen urged the participants to take full advantage of the program in understanding the concepts of audit and accountancy for maintaining proper records of the concerned societies.
Secretary, All Changthang Pashmina Growers, and Marketing Society, Leh, Thinless Nurboo, expressed his gratitude to the Cooperative Department for organising such programs and requested the department to continue such workshops/training in the future also.
