Congress leader Sumit Magotra was placed under house arrest on Thursday in J&K’s Udhampur district allegedly for protesting in the region against State Bank of India (SBI).
Addressing mediapersons in Udhampur outside SBI branch, Magotra, alleged that the local administration has not allowed congress leadership in Udhampur to come out blocking all the paths. He added, “I want to ask is this democracy cause it has ended”.
“We all know that the apex court on Feb 15 told SBI to stop electoral bonds and make the list public so that it can be known which party has received how much donation from the people”, he alleged.
He said, “It is very shameful that day before yesterday SBI apprised that they needed three months of time to make public electoral bonds but central govt claims of digital India as with just one click anything can be shared online. He added, “The SBI has made this decision on the orders of BJP because 98% of money of these bonds are in the account of BJP and 2 percent in other political parties cause the data, which supposed to be shared within a period of an hour has been delayed for three months straight”.
“It is not wrong to say that such parties are being rescued whom BJP has scared or those who have gathered black money, if it is not then why SBI did this”, he asked.
“We called for an peaceful protest infront of the state banks due to this reason. When Congress was in power, we never stopped anyone from agitation. In the upcoming elections, the people will answer them. The SBI has become a parrot of central govt”, he claimed.
