Srinagar, June 6 —Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the rapid pace of infrastructure development in Jammu and Kashmir, saying these efforts are paving the way for a Viksit J&K as part of the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Chenab Rail Bridge and other key infrastructure projects in the Union Territory, CM Omar Abdullah said:
“Just like this one, many infrastructure projects are being completed at a fast pace — whether it is the Jammu Ring Road, Srinagar Ring Road, the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, the four-lane Jammu-Srinagar highway, the expansion of Jammu and Srinagar airports, or the expansion of the railway network.”
He praised the central government for its commitment and resources dedicated to the region’s long-term growth:
“We are trying our best to achieve our goal of a Viksit Jammu and Kashmir for a Viksit Bharat. I thank you, Prime Minister, from the bottom of my heart on behalf of all the people of J&K.”
A Region Transformed by Connectivity
The statement comes on a historic day when Prime Minister Modi inaugurated several landmark projects, including:
Chenab Rail Bridge – the world’s highest railway arch bridge

First-ever direct train from Kashmir to the mainland
These projects are part of a broader development vision that includes ₹46,000 crore worth of infrastructure schemes, aimed at transforming J&K’s landscape, improving connectivity, and boosting economic opportunities.
