On Tuesday, the Sensex and Nifty, prominent stock indices, sustained their series of victories for the fourth consecutive day. This impressive performance was facilitated by the influx of foreign funds and the favorable trend observed in Asian markets.
The 30-share BSE Sensex concluded the day at 62,969.13, marking a rise of 122.75 points or 0.20 percent. Throughout the day, it experienced a surge of 189.74 points or 0.30 percent, peaking at 63,036.12.
Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty closed at 18,633.85, displaying an increase of 35.20 points or 0.19 percent.
Among the major gainers in the Sensex pack were ITC, Bajaj Finserv, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bajaj Finance, Axis Bank, HCL Technologies, Wipro, UltraTech Cement, Maruti, and Infosys.
On the other hand, Tata Steel, Tech Mahindra, Nestle, Larsen & Toubro, Tata Motors, and Titan experienced a decline, positioning them among the laggards.
In Asian markets, Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai, and Hong Kong concluded with positive results. However, the US markets remained closed on Monday in observance of Memorial Day.
According to exchange data, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net buyers on Monday, as they invested in equities worth ₹1,758.16 crore.
Meanwhile, global oil benchmark Brent crude declined 2.30 per cent to USD 75.30 a barrel.
The BSE benchmark climbed 344.69 points or 0.55 per cent to settle at 62,846.38 on Monday. The Nifty gained 99.30 points or 0.54 per cent to end at 18,598.65.
