Cheetah re-introduction programme: 12 big cats from South Africa to be brought to India next month

As many as 12 cheetahs will be brought to India next month as the central government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with South Africa on the re-introduction of the big cats in the country.

The development comes months after eight cheetahs were flown from Namibia and introduced at the Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17 last year.
