Check the latest petrol and diesel prices on May 12 in major cities.

Petrol and diesel prices were unchanged on Friday (May 12) across major cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Chennai. Fuel prices have been mostly steady across the country, with small tweaks by state governments leading to minor changes in some smaller cities and towns.

In Delhi, a litre of petrol costs around Rs 96.72, while diesel price remained steady at Rs 89.62. In Mumbai, petrol continues to retail at Rs 106.31 per litre, while diesel costs Rs 94.27 per litre.

In Kolkata, petrol currently costs Rs 106.03 per litre, while diesel is retailing at Rs 92.76 per litre. In Chennai, a litre of petrol is retailing at Rs 102.63, while diesel costs Rs 94.24 per litre.

However, as mentioned earlier, some cities continue to see price fluctuations every day on account of various charges, including VAT, freight charges and other local taxes.

As of Friday, retail prices of petrol and diesel have increased in some cities across Uttar Pradesh. Price data released by OMCs indicated that petrol price has gone up by 13 paise in Gautam Buddha Nagar to Rs 96.92 per litre; diesel has also become costlier by 12 paise at Rs 90.08 per litre.

Petrol has also become costlier in Ghaziabad by 32 paise, reaching Rs 96.58 per litre. Meanwhile, diesel price has jumped by 30 paise to reach Rs 89.75 per litre. In Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow, petrol now costs Rs 96.57 per litre after a 24 paise rise. On the other hand, diesel price has also increased by 23 paise to Rs 89.76 per litre.
