Chairman DDC Reasi inaugurates Kisan Mela cum exhibition at Sirah, Panthal

Chairman DDC, Reasi, Saraf Singh Nag today inaugurated one day Kisan mela cum exhibition in presence of District Development Commissioner Reasi, Babila Rakwal under Sub-Mission on Agriculture Extension (ATMA) at Sirah, Panthal.
Chairman BDC Panthal, Chander Mohan Singh, DDC Panthal, Rajinder Mengi, Member Kisan Advisory Board, Tilak Raj Sarpanches and other PRI members were also present on the occasion.
The DDC Chairman inspected different stalls of Agriculture and allied sectors viz. Animal Husbandry, Sericulture, Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries and KVK besides stalls of Women Self Help Groups and private players dealing with agriculture inputs, farm machinery and organic products also layed out during the event.
The stalls displayed and highlighted various farmers’ welfare schemes and programmes.
A store room under strengthening of Lemon grass distillation unit at Sirah constructed under CAPEX with assistance of Rs.2 lakh by Agriculture Department was also inaugurated by chief guest on the occasion.
Chairman DDC speaking on the occasion said that such melas provide a suitable platform for the farmers to interact with agri experts, learn about the new innovations to ultimately achieve the goal of raising the farm income. Farmers must take advantage of different Farmers welfare schemes launched by the government, he said.
He also advised the farmers to adopt agriculture on commercial scale to get lucrative remuneration.
The DDC outlined such initiatives serve as effective tool for transfer of technology to the field and urged the farmers to learn and adopt latest technological interventions in the field of Farm Macadamization, organic farming, lemongrass cultivation as part of Integrated farming.
Chief Agriculture officer, Reasi, Harbans Singh presented overall view of Agriculture in the District and progress made under various centrally sponsored schemes. He shared the main objectives of the Holistic Agriculture Department Plan for enhancing the farm income.
Progressive farmers, Self Help Groups were felicitated on the occasion for exceptional work in the field of Agriculture.
Meanwhile, different wings and sections of Agriculture Department like Apiculture, Mushroom, Plant Health Clinic, Soil Testing Lab showcased their activities and achievements in the exhibition. Various live samples of wheat, vegetable crops brought by farmers were also displayed during the Mela.
DAO, Reasi, Ravinder Tripathi, SMS DL, Amit Sharma, Experts from KVK Reasi, SDAO Reasi, Vinod Khajuria, SMS, Vikas Sharma, AEO, Vikas Sharma and other field functionaries were present on the occasion.
