CAHO, Leh Dr Mohd Iqbal briefed the dignitaries about the plant and challenges faced by the department after the installation of plant in 2011.
DRC Leh, Dr, Mohd Abass also informed the dignitaries about the new machineries and utilities been purchased under SDP by Cooperative Department Leh. He further said that an MOU has been signed, in order to operationalize the milk plant smoothly wherein the NDDB will handhold the UT-Ladakh Dairy Cooperative Federation in extending technical Support .
Chairman UT-Ladakh Dairy Cooperative Federation, Dr. Abdul Qayom said that the federation is an apex structure formed by joining of newly registered village level Dairy Cooperative Societies from Leh and Kargil District, together at UT level.
Secretary Cooperative Ravinder Kumar said that the plant needs to be handled professionally for which the administrative department has taken up the survey for purchase of machinery and its installation and commissioning. He further said that NBBD has been supporting the project for technical handholding for sustainable and successful functioning of the plant.
CEC Gyalson directed the concerned department to present a business model and functional structures in the best interests of the farmers of the District as major part of the infrastructural funding has been made through LAHDC. He further stated that the main objectives of this Dairy Plant should focus on the sustainability of the plant and to benefit the local farmers and maximum benefits to local farmers including taking care of their other welfare needs.
