Centre is willing: Union minister Anurag Thakur invites protesting wrestlers for talks again

Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said on Tuesday that the Centre was willing to hold talks with protesting wrestlers who have levelled sexual assault allegations against WFI chief Brij Bhushan Singh.

Thakur’s call for discussion came after a meeting between Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the wrestlers which was held late on Saturday at Shah’s residence in Delhi, as the wrestlers demanded action against Brij Bhushan singh.

The protesters said they were not content with the “reaction” and would chalk out a further plan.

Taking to Twitter, Anurag Thakur called the protesters for talks and said that the Centre was willing to discuss the issues “once again”. He said, “The government is willing to have a discussion with the wrestlers on their issues. I have once again invited the wrestlers for the same.”

“The wrestlers should get justice. We absolutely do not want any daughter’s statement to go out. She is the daughter of India,” he further said while adding that a probe was underway and statements by complainants and Brij Bhushan Singh had been recorded.
