Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan today attended a daylong sheep show cum seminar which was organised by Sheep Husbandry Department Kargil under National Livestock Mission (NLM) 2022-23 at Loungjuk Saliskote.
During the occasion, CEC highlighted the scopes in the elite sector and urged the villagers to take benefit and Councils subsidy schemes. He said that the council is fully committed to work for the welfare of the people. He also informed about various breeds and urged the villagers not to forget the past practices of grazing goats and sheep’s as the village has all natural resources such as water, greenery and plantation.
CEC Feroz also informed about various schemes which the beneficiaries get direct benefited and also threw-light on the importance of Karakul Crossbreed.
The sheep show cum seminar was aimed to aware and appreciate progressive breeders of the TSG Block associated with sheep farming.

Dr Niyaz ul Hasnain briefed participants about the achievements and schemes of the department and advised people to take benefit from the schemes to increase livestock population. He said livestock sector has the potential to push the economy of rural areas.
While talking about the NLM, the District Sheep Husbandry Officer said the department has planned to organize such programs under NLM at every Block in future.
He also advised the breeders, having Karakul breed, to look after the breed in the best possible way so that breed population can be increased in the district. He said the department is committed to increase the livestock in the district and is providing best quality feed and fodder to the beneficiaries.
Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Kargil Dr Muhammad Ismail also spoke on the occasion. He highlights about animal husbandry department and how to care animal from different diseases.
Chief Agriculture Officer Kargil, Kacho Muhammad Ali Khan spoke about integrated and natural farming. He said that Ladakh Green House is benefit for the beneficiaries and this year in winter large production of vegetables produced. He informed the villagers that different seeds has already procured and stored at respective zones.
Dr Naiz Ahmad Lone, Incharge Pashmina Goat Farm Khangral highlighted different aspects of sheep farming in the district. He also spoke about prevention and control of disease outbreak among the cattles.
Scientist KVK Kargil Dr Nazir Hussain, detailed about the benefits of organic production.
The doctors and experts from other departments also delivered lectures as resource persons in different topics to the participants.
In the next session of the program, the Sheep Show was organized in which a large number of livestock were presented by breeders for selection of award by the judges.
The department awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes in different categories of livestock. In addition to this, 36 consolation prizes were also awarded.
The and PRI’s thanked the department for their efforts and requested to conduct more such camps in future also.
