Case on Priyanka Gandhi: The Indore Police said on Saturday that it had registered a FIR against the “handlers” of senior Congress leaders’ ‘X’ accounts, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, MP Congress chief Kamal Nath, and former union minister Arun Yadav, in connection with a post accusing the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh of corruption.
The Indore Police Commissioner said late Saturday night in a statement issued on Twitter, now known as X, that local BJP legal cell leader Nimesh Pathak reported that a false letter bearing the identity of a person named Gyanendra Awasthi was distributed on social media.
According to the letter, state contractors are being requested to pay a 50 percent commission.
According to the spokesperson, the police are confirming the legitimacy of the individual Twitter usernames.
Ms Vadra said on X on Friday that a union of Madhya Pradesh contractors had written a petition to the Chief Justice of the High Court alleging that their payment was only released after they paid a 50% commission.
MP Home Minister Narottam Mishra earlier asked documentation from Congress politician Priyanka Gandhi to substantiate her allegations, saying that the state government and the BJP could take legal action if she did not provide proof.
The opposing party, according to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, is spreading misinformation. Gwalior police booked a case against a few people in connection with Priyanka Gandhi’s post on Friday evening.
