A car was stuck in an underpass in Gujarat’s Nadiad after incessant heavy rains created a flood-like situation in several parts of the state. The four occupants of the car were rescued with the help of fire department officials.
Heavy rains lashed parts of Gujarat on Wednesday night, causing waterlogging in low-lying areas and several parts of Aravalli.
Heavy rain led to waterlogging at the Shreyas Railway underpass in Nadiad. A car carrying four passengers was in route from Ahmedabad to Nadiad when the driver tried to pass through the flooded underpass and their car got stuck.
As the rainwater quickly filled inside the car, three passengers exited the vehicle but the driver remained trapped. Soon, fire brigade officials reached the spot and the driver was also rescued.
Gujarat has been witnessing heavy rain and floods ever since the monsoon hit the state on June 27. Apart from disaster response forces to assist in rescue operations in affected areas.
The India Meteorological Department has forecast more showers in the state. Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is likely over the Konkan, Goa, and Ghat areas of central Maharashtra on July 6, and over Gujarat on July 7 and 8, the MeT Office said.
