Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, has voiced his dissatisfaction with the recent announcement of his health made by the Tihar Jail administration. He claimed that because he has high blood sugar and is a diabetic, he has been demanding insulin on a daily basis.
An earlier source from Tihar Jail claimed that on April 20, while Kejriwal was under judicial custody in the liquor policy case, he had a video consultation with physicians from AIIMS. According to the source, the physicians declared that the chief minister of Delhi had no “serious health concerns”.
The Chief Minister dismissed the AIIM doctors’ assurances that his health was fine and there was no serious concern. He clarified that doctors would provide details on data and the history of his health issues.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the Tihar administration of denying insulin to Kejriwal and a “conspiracy” to “kill” him.
The Tihar Jail administration organised the April 20 video conference at the request of Kejrriwal’s wife, Sunita Kejriwal. The jailed Chief Minister’s complete record of the glucose monitoring sensor, as well as details of his diet and medicines were checked during the consultation.
The insulin issue, however, was neither raised by Arvind Kejriwal nor suggested by the doctors during the video consultation, the Tihar Jail source said.
