In an alarming incident that took place in California, USA, a mother reportedly poured alcohol into her baby’s bottle in an attempt to soothe the crying infant. According to a report released by the New York Post, the baby, who was just 7 weeks old, ended up becoming intoxicated.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department announced on Monday that Honesti De La Torre, a 37-year-old woman, has been arrested and charged with child endangerment for her disturbing actions.

Law enforcement officials revealed that deputies received a call around 12:45 a.m. on Saturday about an incident in an unincorporated area of Rialto, located 55 miles east of Los Angeles in the United States. According to their statements, De La Torre had been driving through Rialto when she pulled over and introduced alcohol into the baby’s bottle, all in an ill-advised attempt to alleviate the baby’s distress.

The infant is currently under medical care in a hospital, and no information has been disclosed regarding the baby’s health status. Meanwhile, the mother remains in custody at the West Valley Detention Center, with her bail set at $60,000.
