Byju’s, India’s prominent but currently facing challenges, has reportedly failed to settle its monthly payments to data management platform providers used by its employees, leading these vendors to either halt or reduce their services to the edtech giant.
According to a recent report, employees of Byju’s utilize customer relationship management (CRM) tools such as Leadsquared, Orderhive, and Salesforce, along with data visualization software like Tableau and Tooljet.
The payments to Salesforce, Tableau, and Tooljet have been pending for approximately two months, while Orderhive has not received payment since December of the previous year, as stated by a senior executive at the Bengaluru-based company. The unpaid dues are estimated to range from ₹45 crore to ₹50 crore.
Typically, when there are payment delays, companies manage the situation by making partial payments to continue services. However, in this case, it appears that Byju’s did not take this approach, leading many vendors to completely halt their services.
As of August 31, all Byju’s employees lost access to Salesforce, Tableau, and Tooljet, while Orderhive, which has not been paid since December 2022, has announced the suspension of its services. Leadsquared has scaled down its services to the company.
Employees have expressed their concerns about the situation, and they have been given assurances that the problems will not persist for more than a month. However, they are currently facing challenges in managing their work, and some services have been replaced with Google Sheets.
While Byju’s has confirmed the loss of services, the individual platform providers have either declined to comment or have not yet responded to the situation.
