Budgam, May 27, 2025:
In continuation of its sustained efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Budgam Police have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances in the Beerwah area.
Acting on specific information, a police team from Police Station Beerwah, led by Head Constable Mohd Ashraf, established a checkpoint at Arwah near the Stone Crusher. During the operation, two individuals were observed moving suspiciously in the area. Upon noticing the police presence, the suspects attempted to flee but were apprehended swiftly and tactfully by the alert personnel.
Upon personal search, approximately 9 grams of a heroin-like substance were recovered from their possession, along with two mobile phones. Both individuals were arrested on the spot and have been identified as Mohd Ismail Parra, son of Ghulam Ahmad Parra, resident of Check-i-Kawoosa and Shahid Ahmed Sheikh, son of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, resident of Sonpah.
Accordingly, a case under FIR No. 71/2025 has been registered at Police Station Beerwah under Sections 8, 21, and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigation is currently underway.
