Jammu March 28 : In Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, a policeman’s body was discovered using a drone near a gunfight site, marking the fourth cop casualty in the conflict. Three terrorists from the Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit were also confirmed dead. Heavy gunfire and explosions persisted as police, Army, and CRPF resumed operations after a night of sanitizing the area. On Thursday, a day-long gunbattle resulted in the deaths of three terrorists and several police injuries, including a deputy superintendent. Security forces are focusing on recovering deceased bodies and apprehending a missing officer, while two more terrorists are believed to be present. The operation continues amid heightened tensions and ongoing security challenges.
In Kathua hospital, the condition of the SDPO and three policemen is stable after a confrontation with terrorists on Sunday evening in Sanyal village, near the International Border with Pakistan. This included a large search operation featuring police, army, NSG, BSF, and CRPF, but the terrorists escaped initial containment. Evidence found included loaded M4 magazines, grenades, and IED materials. The police engaged in a prolonged firefight after receiving specific information about the terrorists, who likely infiltrated via a ravine or tunnel. The People’s Anti-Fascist Front, linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed, claimed responsibility. The Army praised police bravery during this ongoing operation, honoring their sacrifice and dedication.
