A black bear that had been roaming the shatmohalla haril Mawer village in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district for several weeks was finally captured alive on Friday evening bringing relief to the alarmed residents.
According to a wildlife official farooq Ahmad pir, the bear had caused widespread concern among the local population, with its presence creating an atmosphere of fear.
“The Wildlife Department employees had been camping in the area for weeks, working tirelessly to track and capture the animal,” the official said.
“After persistent efforts, the bear was successfully lured into a cage and tranquilized for safe handling. The capture was carried out without causing harm to the animal,” the official added.
