Taking a dig at the remarks of former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda who stated that he was neither retired nor tired and asked for one chance, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar yesterday said people knew whether he was tired or retired. “Hooda is tired and retired. He is not doing anything for himself but for his son. If he does something for the Congress, perhaps it may come alive,” said the CM in response to a question asked by mediapersons during a programme in Sector 12, where he laid the foundation stone of the second phase of the advocates’ chambers.

Ambala: CM Manohar Lal Khattar yesterday made a sudden halt at a tea stall at Sultanpur Chowk on the Ambala-Chandigarh road and enquired about the well-being of the shop owner.

The CM was on his way from Karnal to Chandigarh. While sipping tea, he asked the people about local issues and greeted them on Makar Sankranti. The people told the CM that many accidents took place due to lack of a bridge at the crossing point. They said this was the first time they had seen any CM interacting with people without any security cover.

On Rahul Gandhi’s “Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra”, Khattar said he had the right to undertake the yatra, but he should do Nyay (justice) with his party leaders in Haryana who were facing injustice.

On the issue of patwaris and kanungo strike, the CM said officials of the department would resolve the matter through discussion and directions had been issued in this regard. Earlier, the CM made a contribution of Rs 31 lakh towards the advocates’ chambers’ fund. District and Sessions Judge Chandra Shekhar, Bar Association Karnal president Sandeep Chaudhary and other office-bearers welcomed the CM.

While addressing the advocates, Khattar said the government had provided 1 acre for the construction of the new chamber complex, which would have 260 chambers. He assured that a solution would be found soon for the pending power bills of the Bar Association complex.

Later, the CM inspected the newly constructed national-level hockey stadium under the Smart City project and said it would be inaugurated soon. He congratulated the hockey players and encouraged them to train hard and bring laurels to the state and the country. “The Haryana government is committed to promoting sports and providing modern facilities to the players,” said the CM.

The Deputy Commissioner-cum-CEO, Karnal Smart City Ltd. (KSCL), Anish Yadav, stated that the stadium was built on 6.5 acres and cost around Rs 18.27 crore. The stadium had been built as per the standards of the International Federation of Hockey and was equipped with modern and foreign technology, including an AstroTurf, 72 LED lights, a large LED scoreboard, a 400 kV transformer and a 160 KV generator had also been arranged. The hockey stadium can accommodate both day and night matches. It has three galleries and can hold up to 600 persons. One gallery is reserved for VIPs and can accommodate 100 persons. The other two galleries have 250 seats each and are for general viewers. Each gallery has three rooms, bathrooms and toilets for men and women players. One of these rooms is reserved for the medical staff. There is also a common lobby
