BGMI returns: Battlegrounds Mobile India now available to play but with limited playtime

BGMI returns:  Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) is now available to download and play in India. Its developer Krafton has also rolled out a 2.5 update for the game that brings a “refined and immersive experience for gamers.” The new iteration of BGMI is slightly different from the previous version, which was banned in India for nearly a year. It now has limited playtime for adults and minors under 18 years. Moreover, the game’s playability will be staggered, meaning users will be able to login in phases. Therefore, not all users can play the game at first even after downloading, though the company promises wide availability within a maximum of 48 hours.

Currently, BGMI is available to download on Google Play. iPhone users will get access today, May 29, and the game will be available on the Apple App Store. Some users on Twitter claim that they are able to play the game, while many suggest that the server is available. India Today Tech was also unable to play the battle royale-style title.

BGMI returns:  Kraftons says that to “promote responsible gaming practices”, the playtime for users under 18 will be three hours, whereas, for the rest of the players, it will be six hours daily. Furthermore, parental verification and daily spending limits for minors continue to be a part of the game.

As a part of the new update, BGMI is receiving new additions, such as a brand-new map Nusa, captivating in-game events, weapon upgrades, and a collection of new skins to enhance the gameplay. It is a 1×1 map of a resort island located in a tropical zone, making it the smallest map to be introduced in BGMI. To limit playtime for players, the maps aim to offer a “thrilling experience” but with a single match-time of eight minutes. The key highlights of the map are:
