The father of a 19-year-old student accused authorities at a well-known university in Bengaluru of being complicit in his son’s suicide. Aditya Prabhu, a BTech student at the university, tragically took his own life by jumping off the 8th floor of a building on the college campus, according to several reports. Prior to this incident, Aditya had been accused of cheating during an examination.
Following the devastating event, the deceased student’s father, Ganesh Prabhu, filed a police complaint, holding the college authorities responsible for his son’s death. Subsequently, social media posts started circulating, accusing the college administration, including Aditya’s mentor and other senior officials, of subjecting him to harassment.
A user named Aditya Prabhu’s mother shared her side of the story on Instagram, revealing that her son had called her on the morning of July 17th, stating that he was being harassed and asked her to come to the college. She mentioned that Aditya was caught cheating during the exam, detained, and subsequently counseled, but when he was informed that his parents would be notified, he took the extreme step of ending his life.
According to the user’s post, the deceased’s mother was put under pressure to sign a statement that might absolve the college authorities from any involvement in the matter.
The Instagram account ‘Justiceforadityaprabhu,’ which had around 10,000 followers, and similar messages on Twitter echoed the concerns and allegations. Aditya hailed from Mangaluru and resided near Bannerghatta Road.
