Bengaluru and Mysuru residents were eagerly looking forward to the opening of the 119-km highway between the two cities. However, the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway, which is a 6-10 lane highway developed at a cost of Rs 8,480 crore by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway, seems to be causing a host of problems for commuters.
Many angry commuters and Bengaluru/ Mysuru residents have taken to social media to express their concerns over the new highway.
One of the biggest issues that saw protests a week back, was the high toll fee being charged. Many commuters felt that a one-way charge on the Bengaluru-Nidaghatta section would range from Rs 135 to Rs 880, depending on the vehicle. Political parties also staged protests on March 14.
