The Bandipora district administration on Thursday commemorated World Zoonosis Day by organising a day long seminar on the Zoonotic disease, prevention, and measures under the theme ‘One World one Health’.
Earlier , the District Zoonosis Committee was chaired by DC Bandipora, wherein he sought detailed reports from the health departments on the outbreak,report as well as preventive and curative measures adopted in the district . Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Umar Shafi Pandith, CMO Bandipora, BMO Bandipora, and senior health officials attended the meeting in the meeting hall of Mini-Secretariat, Bandipora.
An awareness seminar was organised at AMT School Bandipora wherein experts Dr Parvaiz Sajad Shah and Dr Nabeel deliberated on the topic.
On the occasion, they stressed on adopting the One Health Approach for addressing the transmission of infections from animals to humans as 75% of the emerging diseases in the world are zoonotic in nature.
They highlighted the challenge of zoonotic diseases and stressed upon early diagnosis and timely treatment of prevalent zoonotic diseases.
The doctors discussed the role of the One Health Approach, a WHO concept to address the issue of public health in an integrated manner, for tackling zoonotic diseases.
The experts also highlighted the importance of animal agriculture and associated risks of zoonotic disease.
They stressed on capacity building in terms of rapid and accurate disease diagnosis and enhanced quality of veterinary services that are affordable and accessible.
Several aspects of prevention and cure of zoonotic diseases were discussed during the seminar, while an interactive session was also organised at the conclusion of the seminar.
