Authorities issue advisory urging people to avoid exposure to heat in Ramban

People in the Chenab religion including the hilly district Ramban reeled under a scorching heat wave as the mercury soared considerably across the Ramban district. There is no sign of rain with dusty winds experienced in some areas of Ramban district on Friday.

People prefered to remain indoors as prevailing heat wave conditions intensified power and water woes in some parts of Ramban, Chanderkote, Ramsu, Sangaldan and Gool.

According to officials of the MeT department, the maximum day temperature was 3 to 4 degrees celsius above normal for the season, at Patnitop and Sanasar health resorts.

Adjoining areas of the district headquarters Ramban like Chanderkote, Sangaldan, and Ramsu belts were the worst affected where locals complained they were getting erratic electricity.

temperatures, on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Ramban Basheer Ul Haq Choudary, district administration through an advisory asked all the concerned department to take necessary measures and implement the heat wave advisories and follow the “do’s
and don’ts to address the challenges posed by the heat wave.”

They advised the general population to stay hydrated, drink sufficient water, carry drinking water,use oral rehydration solution,(ORS), fruit juice some added salt, stay covered, wear loose clothes garments, cover their head, and traditional headgear during exposure to direct heat, stay indoors as much as possible , listen to TV and follow newspapers for local weather updates.

They advised additional attention for infants and young children, people working outdoors, pregnant women, and the physically ill, especially heart patients.

They advised them to avoid heat exposure and stay indoors. The district administration has issued detailed advisories for the general population on social media platforms also.
