Srinagar, Aug 31: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo chaired a meeting today to evaluate the performance of UT’s Medical Colleges under the Health & Medical Education (H&ME) Department.
Attendees included the Secretary H&ME, Director of SKIMS, Principals of GMC Srinagar/Jammu, Director Health Jammu/Kashmir, and heads of New Medical Colleges. Dulloo emphasized that the goal of new medical colleges is to provide tertiary healthcare closer to peripheral areas. He noted that the introduction of DM/MCH/DNB courses is essential for establishing super-specialty care. He urged Principals to expand these courses into all specialties where they are not yet available and to increase seats in existing programs. Dulloo also advised New Medical Colleges to implement MD/MS courses and optimize their infrastructure and resources to become key medical education hubs. Additionally, he recommended forming an expert team to evaluate tertiary care services in the new colleges and developing a roadmap with specific timelines for upgrading their services.
