Voter Says, ‘Came Early to Cast Votes for a Better Future for My Children’

 

Srinagar, Sep 18 : The maiden phase of voting in the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections saw long queues forming outside many polling stations in 24 Assembly Constituencies across seven districts today, with a high voter turnout in Bijbhera, Anantnag, where long lines were observed outside polling stations.

According to the details collected, polling began at 7:00 AM in all 3,276 polling stations across the state, as voters arrived with enthusiasm and determination to ensure their voices were heard.

“I came early to cast my vote because I want a better future for my children. Voting is our right, and it’s the only way we can bring about change,” said Nazir Ahmad, a resident of Anantnag, while waiting in line.

Many young voters also turned out in large numbers, eager to take part in the democratic process.

Similarly, Mehnaz Jan from Anantnag, a first-time voter, exclaimed with great enthusiasm, “I have been waiting so long to vote. Voting is a responsibility. I want to make sure my vote counts for progress and development.”

Meanwhile, mock drills were conducted before voting commenced. All district administrations had made elaborate arrangements at polling stations to facilitate hassle-free voting.

Moreover, the turnout has been overwhelming so far, with people eager to cast their votes, and everything has been proceeding smoothly
