Asia’s largest Tulip Garden set to open for public on March 19 in Srinagar.

Asia’s largest Tulip Garden is situated in the lap of the Jabarwan mountain range, overlooking Srinagar’s famous Dal Lake. The garden has more than 1.5 million tulips of 60 varieties and colors. Because of such colorful flowers, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden has now become one of the major tourist attractions of Srinagar.

The Tulip Garden will be thrown open to the public from March 19. On Friday, Farooq Ahmad Rather, director of the Floriculture Department, said that 68 varieties of tulips have been planted this year. Asia’s largest Tulip Garden, located on the banks of the Dal Lake, will be thrown open to the public from March 19. Apart from this, many varieties of other flowers have also been planted. The director said that all the facilities have been taken care of for the people visiting here. As per the reports it’s said that the extra varieties of tulips have been imported from Amsterdam, Netherlands.  Netherland is the country having world’s best Tulip Garden. In the famous Tulip Garden of Amsterdam there are around 7 million Tulip planted in 800 varieties.Last year during the spring season, Director of Floriculture Farooq Ahmed Rather told this newspaper that 3.60 lakh people visited the garden in 2022, which is an all-time high since the garden was inaugurated in 2007. He further added that garden plays an important part in wooing more tourists during spring,The government is also planning to conduct a Tulip Festival in the early April this year. Tulip Festival is celebrated every year at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden. Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden is Asia’s largest tulip garden that attracts people that have an interest in Floriculture. The tulip garden is spread across 30 hectares of land which gives a breathtaking view of the Dal Lake and snow-capped mountains in the backdrop. The tulip festival in Kashmir was started in 2007 to promote tourism in Kashmir Valley and it has done quite well since then.
Tulip Garden was opened in the year 2007 by then- Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad under the coalition government of Congress and National Conference. The main reason of tulip garden was to promote floriculture and to boost Tourism in Kashmir. There is a massive craze of Tulip Garden among the people across the Globe. Garden has surely boosted the Tourism in the Valley. Visiting of tourists has been ascended since the inauguration of Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden in Srinagar.
