ASI scientific survey: With a previous decision by the Supreme Court. Early on Friday, a team from the Archaeological study of India (ASI) began conducting a scientific study of the grounds of the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, which is close to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. The investigation will reveal whether a Hindu temple was present when the mosque from the 17th century was built.
On Thursday, the Allahabad High Court allowed the survey. A panel led by Chief Justice Pritinker Diwaker upheld the Varanasi district court’s ruling from July 21, which also instructed the ASI to “find out” whether the “present structure” was “constructed over a pre-existing structure of a Hindu temple.” Furthermore, the bench commanded the Varanasi court to “make every effort to conclude the proceedings immediately, without granting unnecessary adjournments to either of the parties, by giving short dates.”
The BJP leaders said the “truth” concerning the temple at the location will now come out and welcomed the HC judgement on Thursday.
The Anjuman Intezamia Masjid committee members have boycotted the survey. The committee members who were supposed to travel with the ASI team for the survey chose not to participate.
Danish Ali, a BSP representative from Amroha, urged against conducting such polls, saying: “Otherwise, this will continue to occur. People will look for a temple in a mosque, and someone will look for a monastery in a temple.
