England vs Australia: The third Ashes Test match between England and Australia will commence at Headingly in Leeds on Thursday, with the home team currently trailing 0-2 in the five-match series. Led by Ben Stokes, England face their final opportunity to keep the series alive following their disappointing performance in the first two games. In the previous matches, Australia successfully chased down a target of 281 runs in the Edgbaston Test, while England lost by 43 runs at Lord’s in their pursuit of 371 runs, both outcomes occurring on the final day of each Test.

Ahead of this Test, Australia received an unfortunate setback with Nathan Lyon being ruled out for the remainder of the series due to a calf injury sustained during the second Test. As of now, the visitors have not yet announced a replacement for Lyon. Similarly, England has suffered a loss as Ollie Pope will be sidelined for the entire series due to a dislocated shoulder.

England vs Australia: England has unveiled its playing XI for the upcoming match, making some notable changes. James Anderson, the experienced fast bowler who struggled to make an impact in the first two Tests, has been omitted from the team and replaced by Chris Woakes. Additionally, Josh Tongue, who impressed in the second Test, has been left out in favor of Mark Wood. To fill the void left by Ollie Pope, Moeen Ali has been included in England’s playing XI. On the Australian side, Todd Murphy is expected to join the playing XI as a replacement for Lyon. Other than this change, the rest of Australia’s playing XI seems settled and well-equipped to cover all aspects of the game.
