Amarnath Yatra on hold: Shri Amarnath Shrine Board officials announced on Sunday that movement of pilgrims on both tracks leading to the Holy Cave is not recommended due to a significant reduction in the flow of pilgrims and the urgent repairs and maintenance of the Yatra tracks at vulnerable stretches being undertaken by Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
As a result, the Yatra will be temporarily discontinued on both routes beginning August 23, 2023. According to a release, Chadi Mubarak will follow the customary Pahalgam route, culminating Yatra 2023 on August 31st.
The 62-day Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, 2023 began on July 1, this year, and will conclude with the Chadi Mubarak celebration on August 31, 2023.
The Yatra began at the same time on both routes, the Pahalgam track in Anantnag district and the Baltal track in Ganderbal district.
This year’s Yatra has seen massive crowds, with over 4.4 lakh pilgrims visiting the Holy Amarnathji Shrine so far.
