Rahul Sahai, Chairman of ICC highlighted the positive changes brought about by the newly formed government in the region. He expressed that free and fair elections had been held, and with the new government’s support, there have been significant strides toward improving infrastructure and business opportunities.
Sahai particularly acknowledged the NCSS (National Conference-Supportive Scheme) and its contribution to addressing longstanding demands. He mentioned that the government had provided essential packages, particularly in the transportation and tourism sectors. “The railway division was given, and we are seeing improvements in highway connections. All these things, including law and order, are very important for the business world,” he said. He also noted that the package offered by the NCSS was a long-awaited demand that had now been fulfilled.
Sahai called for further development in the region, specifically in tourism and exhibitions, to promote economic growth. “Just as Jammu and Kashmir is changing, we too need growth. We were part of the civil society meeting where Omar mentioned the importance of promoting sports and exhibitions to increase movement of people,” he remarked. He suggested that exhibitions like Surajkund, which attract large crowds, could be held in Jammu to boost the region’s visibility and economy. Sahai further emphasized the need for a separate package for local industries that would directly benefit the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
