Aryna Sabalenka overcomes Magda Linette to set up finals date with Elena Rybakina

No.5 seed Aryna Sabalenka overcame a spirited Magda Linette of Poland on Thursday to storm into her maiden Australian Open women’s singles final.

Sabalenka secured a straight-set victory over Linette 7-6(1), 6-2 in her fourth match point after winning the tie-break in the first set at Rod Laver Arena. With the win, Sabalenka also reached her first-ever Grand Slam final. She will meet the 2022 Wimbledon winner Elena Rybakina in the summit clash on January 28.
