Srinagar, January 26 (Gulistan News TV): On the occasion of Republic Day, Jammu and Kashmir’s Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Kumar Choudhary made a statement regarding the special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370, which was abrogated in 2019.
Choudhary addressed the media before the flag-hoisting ceremony in Srinagar. His remarks were in response to a recent statement made by National Conference (NC) President Dr. Farooq Abdullah regarding Article 370 and the erstwhile state’s special status.
Responding to Dr. Farooq Abdullah’s comment, in which he mentioned, “Article 370 was introduced by Maharaja Hari Singh in 1927 for the protection of Dogras in Jammu, not for Kashmiris.”
Choudhary said, “As far as special status is concerned, many states in India have their own special status. The special status given to Jammu and Kashmir by the Constitution of India is our rightful claim, and we will continue to demand and uphold that right.”
Concluding his statement, Deputy CM stated, “Today on this important day, we reaffirm our belief that our special status was our right, is our right and will always remain our right.”
